The Reasons I Sometimes Feel Disconnected from my Instagram Account

Hello readers,

I wrote this blog post last month to share my feelings and views on having an Instagram account.

I decided to not use images in this post because it’s a small and serious update.

Disclaimer: This post is all over the place but I hope you can understand what I’m trying to say.

I want to share something that is personal to me that I kept to myself for a long time.

I’m going to be very honest and real.

If you’re wondering if I’m going to delete my blog, I’m not!

I haven’t been active on my social media account @thetaslifestyle and this is the reason.

Personally, I feel disconnected from it.

What I meant is that having a fashion and lifestyle social media account that is based on how many followers you have, how many people you’re allowed to follow, it has to be this, it has to be that and I became sick of it.

The more I log into my Instagram account, the less I get excited.

When I first started my blog, I didn’t fully understand how the reality of social media and blogging can turn into a dark place.

My 15-year-old self didn’t think of how many opportunities I’ll get or how many likes my photos get every time I post.

This is going to be weird but when I upload a photo on Instagram, I would quickly refresh the page or log off because I was scared of  how many likes I’ll get and when I return to my account after a day or two and see I got fewer likes than expected, I would delete the photo and look for tips and tricks to get more likes on Google.

Sad huh.

This continued for years until I was on my summer break.

I had enough!

So I took a break from it since it drained me.

But I’ll return to my Instagram account soon when I’m fully ready and recharged.

What I’m saying is that having a blog and having social media accounts for your blog can be fun and games until the seriousness comes and I’m talking about opportunities to collaborate with companies, how many views your blog post has and gets, the views you get daily on your Instagram story or blog, followers, monetization.

Thinking about turning your hobby you used to enjoy into a business you dread having.

I felt like writing a blog post, going on my Instagram uploading insta stories and post and twitter to promote my recent blog posts became a chore to me; all of this sucked the fun out of me.

Many people said to me face to face that I could or should turn my blog into a business and there’s nothing wrong with it but thinking about how much money I’ll get based on how many clicks and views on my blog can become obsessive.

If you’re a blogger, social influencer, YouTuber, an artist and you’re going through the same thing as me, please remember the real reason you started your own blog, Social media account, channel or music. Forget the numbers and remember the real reason.

That is all I have to say!
