Getting back into fitness after a long break can be… difficult

Hellooo.

I’m back again!

I promised to publish my blog posts weekly after my previous post in January but I didn’t.

It’s because the last few months have been extremely busy and draining since I left university; job hunting and going for different interviews. Moreover, receiving job rejections affected my mental health and decided to take a step back and recharge.

While recharging, I did Oppserve’s new workout programme called love me more challenge.

I wrote a review about her previous workout programme and saw a slight difference.

If you’re curious and want to read about my experience, you can click on the link below.

The difficulties

Exercising after a long break can be difficult, and I can state the reason from my experience.

My body feels heavy and weak when exercising, especially when doing plank workouts.

Then, I get out of breath quickly and always pause the video to have a 1-2 minute break in between. Their rest times are too short, and I definitely know that a 5-10 second break isn’t enough to catch my breath after doing burpees.

And sometimes… no, all the time, I forget to stretch before and after a workout.

I know, very bad!

That’s my mistake and I will definitely stretch before and after a workout.

When it comes to eating, it can be difficult at times cause sometimes I either eat something too heavy or too light before exercising which is not great 😅

However… I have been drinking protein shakes before a workout or a light snack like a protein bar.

Missing days

The 1st week of the workout programme is usually okay; however, the second week for me is the WORST!

Especially during PMS, causing me to be less energetic 😦

My lack of energy and motivation caused me to miss days, affecting my fitness journey and strength level.

Also, my mental health can become a huge factor for me to miss days.

What can I change and how can I make exercising less…difficult?

1. Don’t drink too much water

2. Warm up before and after exercising

3. Pause the video if I need a rest

4. Do low impact workouts first then progress to harder workouts

5. Don’t beat myself up too much

Hopefully, I’ll follow the five things listed above.

I Hope you find this topic relatable and understand my experience when getting back into fitness.

Have a nice week and…bye.
